3rd Copenhagen SCM Summit 2011 – a summary

“Supply Chain Management Powered by “X”

This was the theme being explored at this year’s Copenhagen SCM Summit held at Copenhagen Business School. The event was arranged by SCOPTI Management Consulting in collaboration with CBS. DB Schenker,take part in the collaboration as sponsor of the prize for Best MSc SCM Thesis and the reception following the event. SCM.dk is the media partner of the event.

The “X” represents new technologies, solutions, innovative initiatives or processes that energize and power the supply chain and generate high-value for the company as a whole. This was the inspiring topic being discussed during the event. The program of the 3rd Copenhagen Supply Chain Management Summit 2011 was initiated by Professor Christian Wickmann Matthiesen from Copenhagen University who discussed the regional implications of the coming Fehmarn Belt connection. Afterwards did the summit programme include presentations by Senior Director of Global Supply Chain at Ferrosan A/S, Mitra Sigurdsson and Logistics Manager at Dyrup A/S, Stig Chr. Nielsen as well as Demand Planning Manager at Novozymes A/S, Casper Algren who each had their input on what the “X” represents in their companies. Finally Professor and PhD, Britta Gammelgaard from CBS gave her views on trends within SCM focussing on the three C’s: “Centralization, Collaboration & Change in the ‘supply chain geography’”.

Besides the Prize for Best MSc SCM thesis of the year; a new prize for the best buddy of the year was also given away. The SCOPTI Best Buddy Prize worth 5.000 DKK was awarded to Louise Tvorup Sassersen. Louise has been a driving force in creating a good social environment in her class and taken on responsibilities to support new students. The DB Schenker Best MSc SCM Thesis Prize consisting of 10.000 DKK was this year awarded to Carsten Friis Dam and Petter Rodø for their thesis “Economical Optimal Lot Size - An analysis of Finished Goods Production at Lundbeck”. This prestigious award is given to a master thesis that not only is at a high academic stage but also adds value to business and the SCM professional community.
