The tasks of making changes, taking steps towards the optimum supply chain, and sustaining the change are complex, detached from the daily operation of the supply chain, require dedicated resources for a period of time, and most often necessitate cross-functional and hierarchical collaboration.

Hence, to succeed with optimizing a supply chain and make sustainable changes; a good project and performance management methodology needs to be in place.
